Hezbollah has confirmed the death of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, following an Israeli military strike on Friday in the Dahiyeh area of Beirut. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that it conducted a “precise strike” in Beirut’s southern suburbs, targeting key Hezbollah locations. According to IDF officials, the strike eliminated Nasrallah, and another prominent Hezbollah commander, Ali Karake, was killed as well.
Hezbollah vowed to continue its resistance against Israel, stating it would persist in supporting Gaza and Palestine. The strikes have escalated tensions in the region, with the situation evolving as Hezbollah launches retaliatory attacks.
Several countries, including Iran, Syria, and Iraq, declared mourning periods for Nasrallah, while international leaders expressed concerns over the ongoing conflict. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced five days of mourning, and Lebanon will observe three days of mourning starting Monday.
Amid the violence, airlines such as UAE-based carriers and Iran Air have extended flight cancellations to Beirut. Meanwhile, the United Nations reported over 50,000 people have fled Lebanon, seeking safety in Syria due to the escalating conflict.
