The growing traffic congestion and tight schedules are making it difficult for UAE residents to balance their work and personal lives. Many employees complain about spending a portion of their day commuting, leaving little time for family and leisure activities. Several reports suggest that the UAE employee management teams are looking into ways to ease this situation.
The impact of corporate routines on personal lifestyles is also prompting a shift in how UAE residents view their weekends. With long hours at the office, coupled with demanding professional expectations, many are seeking to escape to hotels and resorts – specifically for rest and sleep. This is leading to a surge in weekend bookings as employees look for a peaceful retreat away from the pressures of daily life.
“Hotels are increasingly becoming sanctuaries not just for recreation, but for a much-needed break from the intensity of the corporate routine. We reckon that hotels will see an uptick in weekend leisure bookings and staycations, as residents use this time to recharge their batteries both physically and mentally,” said Thomas Kurian, Hotel Manager, Leva Hotel.
This trend suggests that wellness-focused hospitality will continue to grow in demand as more individuals seek respite in environments designed for relaxation.
A UAE resident traveling from Sharjah said, “Companies must now embrace hybrid workspaces, as traditional office setups are proving to hinder productivity in several ways. Spending six hours a day commuting can drain energy, leaving little room for focused work.”
