On October 6, India and Pakistan met in Dubai as part of Group A in the Women’s T20 World Cup.

The match seemed to be going in India’s way, but the players made it a hard fight for themselves to reach 106. Shafali Verma (32) and Jemimah Rodrigues (23) were facing hard times against the bowlers from Pakistan as their teammate Smriti Mandhana (7) left earlier than expected.

Pakistan was given hope as Richa Ghosh had zero runs, but the team captain Harmanpreet Kaur intercepted with 29 to help the Indian team in a tough situation as they fought back. Kaur was hurt and had to leave with an injury with only two runs left for the win. The winning runs were grabbed by India’s Sajeevan Sajana to gift her team the win in a match that seemed difficult for them.

India managed to grab their first win in the tournament as they stand at fourth place in group A with a run rate of -1.217 after they lost the first game against New Zealand.
