It’s that time of the year when many UAE residents are thinking of ticking off their last-minute bucket list by choosing to fly to another country for New Year’s 2025. While many flock to their home countries to spend time with their loved ones, others jet off to European countries. Here’s what we know about UAE travelers’ favorite destinations.

According to data from Wego, Moscow emerged as the top European destination searched by UAE travelers during the festive season. Meanwhile, London remains a favorite, consistently ranking as one of the most searched year-end destinations.

Baku is in third place, while Tbilisi in Georgia is fourth. Prague ranked 5th, mainly for its Old Town Square and architecture. The list doesn’t end there – Vienna, Paris, Yerevan, Milan, Sarajevo, and Munich are also considered popular among UAE travelers.

Rohit Khubchandani, a travel explorer and content creator in the UAE, also shared insights based on his travel expertise, having flown to 45 countries worldwide. He said, “As someone who has traveled extensively, I’ve observed that UAE residents have a penchant for vibrant destinations that offer a mix of festive cheer and unique experiences during the holiday season.”

Khubchandani believes that popular hotspots include Maldives for serene beaches and luxury escapes, London for its iconic Christmas markets and New Year’s Eve fireworks, and Switzerland for those seeking a snowy winter wonderland.

“Thailand, especially Phuket and Bangkok, is another favorite for its tropical weather and lively celebrations, while Turkey—with Istanbul’s cultural charm—offers a blend of tradition and modern festivity,” he remarked. Many also consider Georgia and Armenia for quick getaways, thanks to their proximity and cozy holiday vibes.

Adding to this, Emirati passport holders enjoy extensive visa-free access to numerous countries across the world and that’s why UAE travelers can stay in destinations like Albania, Argentina, and Austria for up to 90 days, while Armenia offers a stay of 180 days.

Other notable countries for quick travels include Brazil, Canada, and Japan too. Countries such as Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar have also seen a lot of tourism this year. Then come places like Seychelles and Mauritius, for beach lovers. The range of destinations is diverse, providing ample opportunities for both leisure and business travel, as mentioned in a blog post by Virtuzone.
