DP World has officially welcomed the newest vessel in its Marine Services fleet, as the DP World Jebel Ali made its inaugural call at Jebel Ali Port. This milestone highlights the port’s strategic importance in global trade and supply chain networks.

The DP World Jebel Ali, a Sapphire 5300 compact gearless container ship, is equipped with advanced maritime technology aimed at boosting cargo handling efficiency, lowering operational costs, and supporting the industry’s sustainability goals. Its compact build enables it to access smaller and inland ports, opening up greater supply chain connectivity across regions.

To mark the vessel’s maiden arrival, senior executives from DP World and Unifeeder hosted a reception at Jebel Ali Port, celebrating the port’s ongoing role as a vital logistics hub. The new vessel will operate as part of Unifeeder’s Asian Gulf ISC Service (AGI), further strengthening connectivity within the region.

One of the ship’s standout features is its environmental performance, reports WAM. The vessel is projected to conserve around 1,700 metric tonnes of bunker fuel per year, translating to a 15–20% reduction in carbon emissions along its designated routes.

Ganesh Raj, Global Chief Operating Officer of Marine Services at DP World, said: “The addition of the DP World Jebel Ali to our fleet strengthens our commitment to providing agile, efficient services that deliver value to our customers. This state-of-the-art vessel will help reduce our environmental impact while enhancing our network, which plays a critical role in regional and global supply chains.”

With this addition, DP World continues to advance its marine capabilities while aligning with global efforts to create a more sustainable maritime future.-WAM
