After multiple reports circulating about Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s health, including rumors of him battling cancer, his PR team, on March 17, dismissed these claims and dropped an update to clear the air. According to his team, the actor is off the limelight due to the holy month of Ramadan.
It is fake news, he is on vacation
As per Indian media reports, his team shared, “It is fake news. He is on vacation because he is fasting for Ramadan. He is also on a break from his shoot schedule because of that.” There was also an update on what’s next for him. “In fact, after the break, he will return to shooting for Mahesh Narayanan’s film with Mohanlal,” they added further.
On the work front
Fans are eagerly anticipating Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming film, which will mark the reunion of superstars duo, Mammootty and Mohanlal on screen after a long hiatus. The film, currently titled MMM, also features Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Kunchacko Boban, Shaheen Siddique, and Danish Husain, among others, in pivotal roles.
Next in the pipeline for Mammootty is Bazooka, and the poster of the same was unveiled recently. This flick is scheduled to release in theatres on April 10, 2025. Helmed by debutant director Deeno Dennis, the action thriller has left critics buzzing. It also stars Gautham Vasudev Menon in the lead.
The teaser of Bazooka, which now has 7.8 million views on YouTube, gives off a distinct neo-noir atmosphere, highlighting Mammootty as a suave agent assigned with the mission of eliminating a sinister masked criminal and overcoming the struggle between righteousness and villainy.
In the meantime, Mammootty is basking in the success of his latest projects, one of them being, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, which earned him his 15th Filmfare Award.
