Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company – Masdar has solidified its position as a global leader in clean energy by deploying nearly AED30 billion in equity investments and securing over AED16.5 billion in project financing across nine countries. These achievements highlight Masdar’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio while driving the global energy transformation.

Since its inception in 2006, Masdar has played a critical role in supporting the UAE’s vision of becoming a global leader in sustainability and climate action. The company has developed and partnered in projects across more than 40 countries, with an ambitious target to increase its renewable energy portfolio capacity to 100GW by 2030.

Masdar’s efforts are instrumental in advancing the UAE’s goal to become the world’s largest developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy and green hydrogen. At the same time, Masdar is assisting countries worldwide in meeting their climate neutrality goals, while increasing its project portfolio’s production capacity to 51GW by the end of 2024.

The company’s growth has been propelled by strategic acquisitions in Greece, Spain, and the United States, enhancing its presence in Europe and North America. Additionally, Masdar has launched seven major projects worldwide, including two Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects in the UK, two solar projects in Azerbaijan with a combined capacity of 760MW, and the 1.5GW Al Ajban Solar Project in the UAE.

Masdar also celebrated the financial close of six significant projects, such as the 1.1GW Al Henakiyah Solar Power Plant and the multi-utility AMAALA sustainable project in Saudi Arabia, along with 760MW solar projects in Bilasuvar and Neftchala in Azerbaijan.

In December 2024, Masdar signed a Power Purchase Agreement for the 2GW Sadawi project in Saudi Arabia, further cementing its leadership in the region. The company also inaugurated the 500MW Zarafshan Wind Farm in Uzbekistan, marking the largest operational wind farm in Central Asia.

Masdar’s continued expansion and commitment to sustainable energy play a pivotal role in shaping the global renewable energy landscape.
