‘More Than 700 Million Passengers’: Sheikh Mohammed Celebrates 10Yrs Of DXB As World’s Busiest Airport

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has retained its position as the world’s busiest international airport for the past decade, welcoming over 700 million passengers and handling 3.3 million flights during this period, according to Airports Council International.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, reaffirmed the emirate’s global aviation leadership, stating, “Dubai is the airport of the world.”

In 2024 alone, DXB saw a record-breaking 92 million passengers, with 440,000 flight movements connecting travelers to 272 cities across 107 countries via 106 airlines. The airport’s world-class infrastructure and strategic location continue to cement its role as a key gateway for global travel and trade.

In his post, the Ruler of Dubai wrote, “Dubai International Airport during the past ten years: More than 700 million passengers… The busiest international airport according to the Airports Council International… 3.3 million air movements.”

He added, “Dubai International Airport in 2024: The busiest international airport worldwide with 92 million passengers… 440,000 air movements… 106 airlines and flights to 272 cities in 107 countries around the world… Dubai Airports over the next ten years: AED128 billion to reshape the international aviation scene with Emirati standards. Dubai is the airport of the world… and a new world in the aviation sector.”
