The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) has launched a new helpline, MS Helpline, to assist people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the UAE. It is available by dialing 800 677 and offers information on MS healthcare practitioners, referrals to specialists, and provides support for mental health assessments. The service is accessible from 10 AM to 10 PM, seven days a week.
This initiative is backed by Mubadala, through the Mubadala Foundation, and operated by Abu Dhabi health technology company, M42. It provides confidential, impartial advice, helping the MS community access essential resources and support.
His Excellency Ahmed Taleb Al Shamsi, CEO of the Emirates Foundation and Vice Chair of NMSS emphasized that this helpline is a regional first for MS support in the UAE. The service aims to improve access to medical resources and enhance the quality of life for people living with MS.
Mansour Ahmed Al Ketbi, Deputy Chief Corporate and Human Capital Officer at Mubadala, added that the helpline is part of the company’s commitment to supporting social efforts that positively impact the community.
Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer at M42 and Chairman of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi stated, “People living with MS often feel isolated, so this helpline will address their needs and concerns, providing personalized guidance, assistance, and support to help them live fulfilling lives and reduce the anxiety associated with the condition.”
The MS Helpline aligns with the National MS Coalition’s objectives, announced by the NMSS on World MS Day in May 2024. The coalition aims to implement a national MS agenda, foster cooperation and knowledge sharing, and establish a formal framework to achieve NMSS’s priorities and mandates and bettering the lives of people with MS.-WAM
