From multiple red carpets to exclusive celebrations, Jimmy Choo’s luxury shoes embody the confidence that comes from transforming a once-niche brand into a global phenomenon. What’s next is that Choo has a plan outlined for the budding fashion designers who are following his footsteps. “My father always said to me, if you have the knowledge and the skills, if you pass on your legacy, then the younger generation can have all the skills and knowledge as well,” he told CNBC.

Through the launch of an online store featuring clothes and accessories created by students and graduates of his design program at the JCA London Fashion Academy, Jimmy Choo is providing students with the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree in entrepreneurship, design, and brand innovation. A key focus of the program is business development, with an emphasis on equipping students with the skills to launch their own fashion ventures.

“A blend of seminar and studio-based project work will form a key part of your study through which you will develop an advanced body of practical work, examine critical and contextual concepts, and capably apply specialized knowledge in brand and design innovation,” as mentioned on his academy’s website.

The course modules are designed to fully professionalize learning through a practice-led and experiential approach to assessment. This method is contextual and applied, aligning with students’ personal areas of specialized practice and subject interests.

“Even the most talented of fashion designers will fail if they have no business acumen,” Choo remarked in a press release.

Choo shared his views on AI’s impact on the fashion industry, stating that while AI can be helpful for tasks like student exercises or translating Chinese letters, it shouldn’t be relied upon entirely.

He cautioned that overuse of AI would result in uniformity, as everything would start to look the same. “AI can serve as a guideline, but it shouldn’t be used to do everything,” Choo explained: “If you depend on it too much, you lose your skill.”
