The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) has unveiled the first phase of the “Dubai Sky Map,” a pioneering platform designed to enhance airspace management in the emirate. This innovative tool consolidates various aviation-related services into a single, interactive map, streamlining the supervision of airspace activities and boosting operational efficiency.

A Unified Platform for Enhanced Airspace Management

The “Dubai Sky Map” brings together all maps and services related to the DCAA’s operations, including real-time tracking of air transport vehicles, cranes, and other aviation activities. Launched by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the DCAA and Chairman of Dubai Airports and Emirates Airline, the platform marks a significant step in improving airspace safety and management.

This announcement took place during DCAA’s participation in Gitex Global 2024, held from October 14 to 18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. As a key initiative, the platform supports DCAA’s vision of promoting innovation and future-readiness within Dubai’s civil aviation sector.

A Vital Tool for Airspace Safety

The “Dubai Sky Map” is a comprehensive system designed to improve the safety and efficiency of air operations in Dubai. By offering live tracking and real-time data, the platform enhances the DCAA’s ability to monitor and manage airspace activities. Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, Director General of DCAA, emphasized the importance of this platform, stating: “The launch of the ‘Dubai Sky Map’ underscores our commitment to innovation in aviation and marks a significant step toward a safer, more sustainable future for the industry.”

Lengawi further highlighted that safety and security remain the foundation of DCAA’s operations, with the platform playing a crucial role in aligning Dubai’s aviation sector with global standards and best practices.

Showcasing Innovation at Gitex Global 2024

In addition to the launch of the “Dubai Sky Map,” the DCAA is showcasing a range of advanced systems and projects at Gitex Global 2024 under the ‘Dubai Digital’ platform. These initiatives aim to improve work quality and enhance leadership in aviation management, ultimately supporting the safe and efficient flow of air transport in Dubai.

Saeed Belhoul, Acting Director of DCAA’s Information Technology Department, emphasized the platform’s innovative nature: “The ‘Dubai Sky Map’ consolidates all service-related maps into a single, interactive platform, providing real-time monitoring of airspace activities. This tool is essential for improving safety and operational efficiency, showcasing our dedication to advancing solutions that optimize airspace management.”

A Step Toward a Safer and Smarter Future

As Dubai continues to prioritize digital transformation and smart initiatives, the “Dubai Sky Map” represents a vital part of the emirate’s broader goals. By integrating cutting-edge technology and providing comprehensive data in one unified platform, the DCAA is leading the way in modernizing airspace management, ensuring the highest levels of safety and efficiency.

The launch of this platform reflects Dubai’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development, aviation excellence, and the continuous improvement of quality of life for residents and businesses. Through the “Dubai Sky Map,” the DCAA is setting a new benchmark in airspace management, paving the way for a smarter, more secure future in aviation.
