For the first time, Dubai’s Global Village is hosting the traditional Emirati celebration of Hag Al Laila, marking the countdown to the Holy Month of Ramadan 2025. The four-day festivities, running from Thursday, February 13 to Sunday, February 16, will take place from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, offering a rich cultural experience for families.

Located at the heart of the park between the Main Stage and Dragon Lake, the celebration will feature a variety of heritage-inspired activities, workshops, and traditional treats. Guests will be transported to an Emirati setting, complete with palm fronds, woven mats, lanterns, and cozy majlis seating, creating an authentic atmosphere that brings the community together.

Elderly women dressed in traditional Emirati attire will share folklore stories, songs, and proverbs while distributing Hag Al Laila sweets. The sound of children singing “Aatona Hag Al Laila” as they eagerly collect their treats will fill the air, allowing families to create lasting memories of this beloved tradition.

Hag Al Laila has always been an occasion to strengthen family and community bonds, promoting values of kindness and gratitude ahead of Ramadan. The act of distributing sweets during the celebration is a symbolic gesture of giving, which resonates with the spirit of the Holy Month.

In addition to the cultural activities, visitors can enjoy meet-and-greet opportunities with Global Village’s iconic characters, The Wonderers, who will engage with young guests, take photos, and present them with specially prepared Hag Al Leila gift pouches.

For younger attendees, the festival also offers creative workshops, where children can participate in arts and crafts sessions and engage in traditional heritage games, further enriching their experience.
