Ramadan 2025 is just around the corner and even though the official dates have not been announced yet, looks like residents are making the most of the sales and deals, to stock up on essentials to celebrate the holy month. With rising costs in the market, expats in the UAE who are gearing up for the month revealed the amounts they spent on adorning their spaces, shopping essentials for iftaar, and more.

Aftaab Muleni, a Sharjah resident living in Qasamiya, shared, “This year, I comparatively spent more than what I did last year. We are a family of five and to make up for everyone’s clothes, food desires, and other demands, I ended up shelling out AED2000 just on food. Well, I am still waiting for better deals to shop clothes for all of us. Costs are increasing every year, and so are the demands.”

Many residents also shared that the consumer market is so vast that it’s difficult to explore a particular hypermarket entirely, as they feel they may miss out on deals at other stores.

“We went to Day To Day near Al Nahda and then shopped for almost AED880. No wonder the deals and variety are huge, making kids go ga-ga over the colorful environment and showcase. But to be honest, the social media world sometimes leaves you confused. After my shopping, I realized there was another store that was giving out major deals. No regrets, but there’s so much to look forward to, something is always missed out,” said Qasim, who lives in Dubai’s Nahda.

Nisreen, a home-teacher in Sharjah, pointed out that since there are just roughly around 10 days left, people are flocking to markets even on odd days to shop. “The traffic has become a big issue as employees, shoppers, tourists, everyone has juggling within this space. I stepped out to buy essentials for the coming few days and of course Ramadan, my timelines were delayed as even on odd days, the hyper markets are swarmed with people. If I have to roughly share a figure, I spent AED420 but still there’s a lot more left in the bucket,” she shared.
