This groundbreaking approach highlights the UAE’s leadership in embracing innovative technologies, according to a statement from the Council.
The use of AI drones builds upon the traditional method of direct visual observation, which remains the key approach for confirming the sighting of the crescent moon, as per the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
This new method will work alongside traditional eyewitness accounts and advanced astronomical observatories, all of which are equipped with cutting-edge technology to ensure accurate moon sightings.
The initiative is carried out in collaboration with national agencies, specialized research centers, and astronomical observatories to further enhance the accuracy and dependability of the crescent moon sighting process.-WAM
