Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed 9 cooperation agreements with a number of real estate developers and free zones in the emirate, with the aim of providing a unified window for approving infrastructure project requests and managing activities implemented within the road right-of-way and public roads.
The agreements also aim to enhance traffic safety, raise the level of road service, and ensure that development projects are implemented in accordance with the highest standards and requirements approved by the relevant authorities.
The Authority stressed its keenness on the level of infrastructure within the road right-of-way in various parts of Dubai, including development areas and free zones, within the framework of preserving the civilized and aesthetic appearance of the emirate, and ensuring the efficiency and continuity of the operation of road right-of-way, facilities and sidewalks in accordance with the best approved practices.
The cooperation agreements included the most prominent developers and free zones in Dubai, namely: Emaar Properties, Damac Properties, Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Nshama, Al Futtaim Properties, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, Dubai Healthcare City Authority, Dubai Investments Park, and Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority.
In the same context, Bader Al Sairi, Executive Director of Roads Right-of-Way Management at the Traffic and Roads Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority, stated: “These partnerships come within a comprehensive and integrated plan aimed at unifying efforts in managing the road right-of-way in the Emirate of Dubai, and providing a unified reference for drawing up strategies and following up on their implementation, which contributes to developing the road network infrastructure and raising its efficiency. These agreements also contribute to enhancing the smooth flow of traffic and ensuring the safety of road users, including drivers and pedestrians.”
Al-Sairi praised the cooperation between developers and free zones, and the depth of these partnerships that reflect the integration of efforts to implement the provisions of Law No. (4) of 2021, regarding the regulation of roads within development and free zones in the Emirate of Dubai, stressing the importance of close cooperation between the Authority and its strategic partners in raising the level of efficiency and sustainability of road infrastructure in the emirate.
