Starting January 1, 2025, paid public parking will be implemented across Al Dhaid City in Sharjah. The new system is designed to curb parking misuse, enhance the experience, and support the Emirate’s growing tourism and business sectors.
Parking fees will apply from 8 AM to 10 PM, with Fridays being free, except in specific areas marked with blue guidance signs. These zones will have clear signage showing the payment times.
The initiative will include 1,900 paid parking spaces and will be supported by 19 payment kiosks. More so, 7 large signage boards and 161 smaller directional signs will be added. Motorists will be able to pay through coin-operated machines, SMS services, the Sharjah Digital app, the Mawaqif app, or prepaid cards.
To ensure compliance, digital monitoring vehicles will conduct regular inspections. The project is being managed by a joint task force from Sharjah and Al Dhaid municipalities, with detailed planning, feasibility studies, and a public awareness campaign in place.
H.E. Hamad Rashid Al Tunaiji, Director of Al Dhaid Municipality, emphasized the importance of this step in supporting the city’s development journey: “Implementing parking fees reinforces Al Dhaid’s position as a modern urban hub while addressing challenges such as misuse and negative behaviors impacting residents, businesses, and the city’s overall aesthetic appeal,” reports Sharjah 24.
