This is Biden's final speech at the UNGA as President

U.S President Joe Biden made his final speech in front of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday but failed to offer any concrete solution on how to address the raging conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking about his decision earlier to drop out of the presidential race in 2024, Biden told the assembly of more than a 100 global leaders that “some things are more important than staying in power.”

The leader spoke about the wars in Ukraine and Gaza and mentioned Lebanon briefly in his speech. This as tens of thousands of people are reportedly fleeing southern Lebanon as Israel continues to pummel the region, killing at least 569 people, including 50 children, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

President Biden said, “Being president has been the honor of my life. He added: “As much as I love the job, I love my country more. I decided, after 50 years of public service, it’s time for a new generation of leadership to take my nation forward.”

World leaders are currently in New York City for the 79th United Nations General Assembly to discuss global issues and put forward their countries’ agenda.
