The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) is participating in the 16th edition of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, sponsored by the Sharjah Book Authority, with the theme “Dive into Books,” taking place at the Expo Centre Sharjah.
The festival, held under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, is a major annual event on the emirate’s cultural calendar. It is also supported by the ruler’s wife, H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.
Ali Al Hosani, Director of the SPEA, stated that the authority’s participation demonstrates its desire to instil a love of reading in pupils from a young age. He emphasised the authorities’ view of the importance of books in forming children’s personalities and developing their intellectual and linguistic talents.
The authority displays its profound commitment to encouraging a culture of reading, sparking discovery and critical thinking among students, and cultivating habits that deepen their knowledge and creativity by participating under the theme, “Let books flood your world.”
Throughout the festival, the authority provides a diverse schedule of literary, artistic, educational, and awareness-building events.
Key events include storytelling sessions, art workshops, Quran learning activities, Arabic language classes, stage performances, choir shows, science workshops, poetry recitations, and various student debates and discussions.
This involvement demonstrates the authority’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to express themselves through art, writing, and discussion. This aligns with Sharjah’s educational goal of cultivating a culturally aware generation with critical and creative thinking skills.
