President Donald Trump on Friday unveiled plans for the U.S. military to introduce a sixth-generation fighter jet, the F-47, which will also be available in a modified form for allied nations. The aircraft, developed by Boeing, is expected to be the most advanced fighter jet ever built.

Secretly Tested for Nearly Five Years

“The F-47 will be the most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built,” President Trump declared in the Oval Office, standing alongside Secretary of State Pete Hegseth and senior military officials. He revealed that an experimental version of the jet has been in secret testing for nearly five years and expressed confidence in its superiority over any other nation’s aircraft.

Secretary of Defense Hegseth emphasized the aircraft’s significance in maintaining U.S. military dominance. “We’ve had the F-15. We have had the F-16, the F-18, the F-22, the F-35, and now we have the F-47, which sends a very direct, clear message to our allies, that we’re not going anywhere, and to our enemies, that we can, we will be able to project power around the globe unimpeded for generations to come,” he said.

The F-47 is Ready for Production

President Trump confirmed that production is already underway, with infrastructure in place to support manufacturing. “It’s ready to go,” he stated. “They’ve already built much of what has to be built in terms of production, including the sheds, and will ensure that the USA continues to dominate the skies.” He added that a significant order has been placed for the aircraft.

The F-47 will also be available for U.S. allies, albeit with certain modifications. “Our allies are calling constantly. They want to buy them also,” Trump said. “And we will be selling (them to) certain allies, perhaps toned-down versions. We would like to tone them down about 10 percent which probably makes sense, because someday, maybe they’re not our allies.”

Specific details about the aircraft, including its cost, were not disclosed. “We can’t tell you the price,” Trump explained, citing concerns that it could reveal information about the aircraft’s technology and production scale.

To Operate alongside Drones

One of the jet’s key innovations is its ability to operate alongside drones. “This plane flies with drones; flies with many, many drones, as many as you want,” Trump said. “And it’s a technology that’s new, but it doesn’t fly by itself. It flies with many drones, as many as we want. And that’s something that no other plane can do.”

The project, known as “The Next Generation of Air Dominance,” marks a significant step forward for the U.S. Air Force. Air Force Chief of Staff General David Alvin hailed the F-47 as a crucial part of the military’s future. “This is a big day for our United States Air Force as well,” he said. “The F-47 is the crown jewel in the next generation air dominance family of systems, we’re gonna be able to keep that promise. Welcome to the future.” With production ramping up, the F-47 is set to reinforce U.S. air superiority for years to come.
