If you’re a UAE resident looking forward to your year-end travel, you’re in for a hassle-free experience. As of 2024, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation (MoFAIC) highlights that the UAE-issued driver’s license is now recognized in more than 40 countries worldwide. This recognition allows citizens to rent vehicles in numerous destinations without the need for extra permits, making international travel even more convenient.

Thanks to the UAE’s international agreements, citizens can drive with their UAE license in over 50 countries. These nations span across continents, from Asia and Europe to North America, South America, Africa, and Oceania. Whether you’re heading to Europe for a vacation, visiting family in Asia, or touring parts of Africa or the Americas, driving in a foreign country has never been more accessible.

Adding to this, The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has also launched an online service called Markhoos, allowing users to easily check whether their UAE license is recognized in specific countries. However, always double-check the specific rental policies in each country to ensure smooth rental experiences.
