The United Arab Emirates has announced a two-month extension of its visa amnesty programme, initially set to expire on October 31, 2024. This will allow individuals with more time to regularize their visa status without penalties or restrictions.
The decision to extend the amnesty programme aligns with the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian values and its desire to support individuals facing difficulties with their residency status. By offering a grace period, the UAE aims to provide a fair opportunity for people to rectify their situation, either by leaving the country or obtaining a valid employment contract.
ICP director general Maj-Gen Suhail Saeed Al Khaili said that the extension of the amnesty programme is expected to benefit a significant number of individuals who may be overstaying their visas or have other visa-related issues, reports Khaleej Times. It is important for those affected to take advantage of this opportunity and contact the appropriate authorities to understand their options and complete the necessary procedures, he added.
The UAE government has launched its fourth amnesty programme since 2007. The one launched in 2018 was also initially planned for 90 days but was later extended by two months.
