Amid escalating regional tensions and a deepening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar in Abu Dhabi today to push for urgent diplomatic solutions.

The high-level meeting underscored the growing strategic relationship between the UAE and Israel, while zeroing in on the worsening crisis in Gaza. Both officials exchanged views on the fragile regional landscape and stressed the urgent need to revive a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages held in the enclave.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the UAE’s unwavering stance on the need to avoid further escalation in the region. He reiterated the country’s full support for diplomatic efforts that prioritize civilian protection and intensify the humanitarian response in Gaza.

“We must urgently work to ensure a sustainable ceasefire and secure the safe release of hostages,” Sheikh Abdullah said, adding that the UAE remains firmly committed to enabling the unimpeded flow of life-saving humanitarian aid into Gaza.

He also reiterated the UAE’s historical support for the Palestinian people, reaffirming their right to self-determination and the country’s commitment to delivering continuous humanitarian assistance.

Calling for the international community to unite in pursuit of a durable solution, Sheikh Abdullah stressed the need to advance a meaningful political horizon that leads to comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

The conversation also touched on the need to curb extremism, combat rising hate, and encourage a global culture rooted in coexistence and human fraternity—principles Sheikh Abdullah described as foundational to building “safe, stable and prosperous societies.”

The meeting was also attended by Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, and Mohamed Mahmoud Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to Israel, highlighting the broader scope of bilateral cooperation.

As regional and international actors continue to search for pathways to peace, today’s discussions in Abu Dhabi signal the UAE’s continued role as a key diplomatic player in navigating the Middle East’s complex dynamics.
