His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, extended his condolences to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan following the tragic air crash involving an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane in Kazakhstan, which resulted in numerous casualties and injuries.
In his message, President Sheikh Mohamed expressed his deepest sympathies and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also conveyed their heartfelt condolences to President Aliyev in separate messages.
An Azerbaijan Airlines flight traveling from Baku to Grozny in Russia’s Chechnya crashed near Aktau city in Kazakhstan on December 25, killing 38 of the 67 people onboard, reported AFP. Russian news agencies suggested that the plane had been rerouted due to fog in Grozny.
The flight, Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243, was carrying 62 passengers and five crew members. The passengers included 37 Azerbaijani citizens, 16 Russian citizens, 6 Kazakh citizens, and 3 Kyrgyz citizens. Azerbaijan Airlines also shared the names of the passengers on X and provided hotline numbers for families seeking information about the victims.
