His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi has ordered the release of 1,295 prisoners from correctional institutions in the UAE, ahead of Ramadan 2025, the Holy Month, on Thursday, February 27.
His Highness has also pledged to cover any financial obligations related to the inmates’ sentences as a gesture for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Also, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has ordered the release of 111 prisoners from punitive and correctional institutions.
The initiative by UAE leaders shows their dedication to giving inmates a new beginning, easing the challenges for their families, and promoting stability in both their homes and the community. It also aims to bring happiness to their loved ones during this blessed time.
Major-General Mohammed bin Ghanim Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of the Fujairah Police, thanked Sheikh Hamad for this gesture. He further hopes that it will enable the released prisoners to start new lives by showcasing good behavior and also help them contribute to their community.
