To celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties between the UAE and Canada, the Canadian mission in the UAE is hosting a unique treasure hunt, giving residents a chance to win exciting prizes like flight tickets, hotel stays, luxurious 11-course meals, and event tickets. The treasure hunt, which will span landmarks across the UAE, aims to introduce participants to Canadian culture and highlight the country’s contributions to the UAE’s development.
Radha Krishna Panday, Canada’s ambassador to the UAE, said the event will spotlight Canada’s longstanding presence and influence in the UAE. “Canadians were here before the UAE’s formation,” Panday said. “This treasure hunt is a fun way to showcase Canada’s contributions to the UAE’s success. You may not realize it, but Canadian influence is all around you in the UAE.”
The event is open to 150 participants on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration is free. After signing up through a designated app, participants will be tasked with completing 50 challenges across November. Challenges range from taking selfies at Canadian-linked monuments and attending a hockey game to spotting beaver and moose representations within the UAE.
Ambassador Panday noted the impact of Canadian architects and firms in shaping iconic UAE structures, such as the Etihad Museum in Dubai and the distinctive Etisalat buildings in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, both of which were designed by Canadian architects. He added that a Canadian firm also played a pivotal role in the design and construction of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower.
This treasure hunt commemorates the diplomatic relations established in 1974, three years after the UAE was founded, marking a significant milestone in trade and cultural exchange between the two nations. Full details of the treasure hunt can be found on the Canadian mission’s social media channels.
