The UAE witnessed a significant drop in temperatures today, January 3, with Jais Mountain recording the lowest temperature at 2.2°C. This chilly weather led to frost formation on the mountain peak.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported light fog in several areas last evening, including Ghantout, Saih Sudaira, and Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi, Saih Al Salam in Dubai, and An Nayfah in Al Ain.

Today, light rain was observed in various locations across the country, including parts of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Qwain, and Ras Al Khaimah. Many residents took to social media to share glimpses of the weather shift.

The NCM has issued a weather advisory, predicting partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with rainfall expected in northern, eastern, and coastal areas. Notably, the advisory warns of possible frozen rain over the mountains. Strong winds are also forecasted, particularly inland, with speeds reaching up to 45 km/hr along coastal areas. Temperatures are expected to range between 11 and 16 degrees celsius for the lowest and between 20 and 24 degrees celsius for the highest.
