The UAE weather has been experiencing quite a dip for the past few days. On January 13th, Dubai and Sharjah residents began their Monday witnessing gloomy skies. Around 12.30 PM, rain showers swept through several parts of the city, reducing temperatures even further.
Moderate rainfall was reported in areas such as Palm Jumeirah, Jebel Ali, Emaar Business Park, JLT, Hessa Street, TeCom, Dubai Media City, Knowledge Village, Dubai Industrial Area, and Al Maktoum International Airport. In Sharjah, areas like Rolla, Muwaileh, Bank Street, Al Hisn, and Qasamiya, also experienced light showers.
The wet conditions led to minor disruptions, particularly for commuters and outdoor workers. Slippery roads posed challenges during the morning rush hour, prompting the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to issue reminders for safe driving practices.
To ensure road safety, the RTA urged motorists to use low-beam headlights, check brakes after driving through water, avoid valleys and flooded areas, and ensure windshield wipers are functioning properly. Drivers are also advised to reduce speed, stay clear of road edges, use outside air settings to prevent windshield fogging, and rely solely on weather updates from official sources.
