The UAE experienced fluctuating weather conditions over the weekend, with heavy rain lasting around 20 minutes in parts of Sharjah, Dubai, and Ras Al Khaimah. On Sunday, lightning was reported in several areas of Sharjah, including Rolla, Al Majaz Waterfront, Abu Shagara, Al Bu Daniq, Al Fisht, and Al Ghuwair. Rainfall was also recorded in parts of Al Qudra Road, Jebel Ali, Hessa Street, and Downtown Dubai.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued yellow and amber alerts for some eastern regions, advising residents to stay updated on changing weather conditions. Cooler temperatures were observed, with the weekend seeing a dip to 20°C, and similar conditions expected to persist throughout the day. This morning, the temperature dropped to 2.8°C in Jais Mountain.
According to NCM’s daily weather report, north-westerly winds will blow at speeds ranging from 15 to 30 km/h, occasionally reaching 45 km/h. The Arabian Gulf is expected to experience moderate to rough sea conditions, while the Oman Sea may also turn rough at times due to cloud cover.
Dubai Municipality has ramped up its emergency response efforts to efficiently handle rain-related incidents and safeguard public safety. UAE authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, steer clear of flooded areas, and report any potential hazards that could endanger public safety.
In a social media update, the municipality assured the public that its rapid-response teams are on standby, ready to tackle any weather-related emergencies promptly.
