UAE Weather: Thick Fog Hits Dubai, Sharjah & Abu Dhabi; Visibility Severely Reduced

The UAE weather has been experiencing quite some fluctuations over the past one week. On March 18, residents woke up to dense fog in Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has reported that the temperature dropped to 9°C in Jais Mountain, Ras Al Khaimah, a significant decrease from previous weeks.

The NCM has also issued a warning for heavy fog affecting several key roadways across the UAE. This morning, Sharjah areas like Rolla, Al Qasimiya, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Noor Island, Al Qasba, and Al Khan experienced light showers and foggy conditions.

Key parts of Dubai, such as Internet City, The Greens, Media City, Tecom, Barsha, Downtown, Habtoor Palace, and JLT, also experienced heavy fog. Many residents took to social media to share glimpses of the weather. UAE residents were spotted enjoying this shift, with people seen clicking photos at bus stops and metro stations.

In Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, areas around Al Khatim, Arjan, and Al Taweelah are experiencing even more severe fog. Moreover, Sweihan in Al Ain, Jebel Ali, and Al Minhad, are also experiencing reduced visibility.

Drivers are advised to exercise heightened caution as visibility declines, with some areas experiencing a considerable reduction in visibility until 9 AM on March 18.

Fog alerts in the UAE:

Going forward, today’s weather forecast suggests fair to partly cloudy skies, with some cloud cover expected in the eastern and northern regions. During the day, temperatures will remain mild, with inland areas experiencing highs between 28°C and 33°C, coastal regions and islands ranging from 26°C to 30°C, and mountain areas seeing temperatures between 25°C and 29°C.

However, the humidity levels will rise in the night, but won’t be too hot. Sea conditions are expected to be calm, with gentle waves in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
