The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has announced the funding of eight innovative student-led research projects through the Fatima Bint Mubarak Motherhood and Childhood Research Centre. These projects address challenges in early childhood education, maternal health, and childhood development, reinforcing UAEU’s commitment to advancing solutions that improve the well-being of mothers and children in the UAE.
The selected research projects cover a wide range of topics, including the development of mobile apps aimed at enhancing Arabic literacy for young children, the use of digital tools to manage gestational diabetes, and studies on food rejection behaviors in children aged 2-7 years. Other initiatives will focus on understanding how environmental and social factors impact childhood development, exploring comorbidities in autism spectrum disorder, and evaluating the effectiveness of positive discipline programs in improving parenting practices and attitudes.
These projects aim to address the diverse challenges facing childhood health and education in the UAE, with the potential for long-term positive outcomes for the nation’s future generations. Professor Ayesha Al Dhaheri, Advisor at the Vice Chancellor’s Office, emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stating that UAEU’s support of these projects through the Fatima Bint Mubarak Motherhood and Childhood Research Centre reflects our commitment to advancing research that has a direct impact on society.
